So much to celebrate! First, we want to congratulate Carlos Herrada for winning the 2026 SoBLa Travel Award, supported by Montana Molecular! This award will fund his travel to the 2026 Biophysical Anual Meeting in San Francisco this year.
 
A second round of congratulations go to our two new Council members, Dr. Pamela Ornelas and Dr. André Nicolás León! We look forward to working with them and the rest of the council, serving our members. 
 
Lastly, we want to thank outgoing Officers and Councillors for their help in moving our society forward in the past year through our transition into an official non-profit: Past-President, Dr. Carlos Villalba-Galea; Past-Past-President, Dr. Valeria Vasquez; Past-Past-Past-Past-President and Past-Treasurer, Dr. Miguel Holmgren; and Postdoctoral Councillor, Dr. Ana Fernandez-Marino. Thank you for all your help, guidance and commitment!

¡Tanto para celebrar! Primero, queremos felicitar a Carlos Herrada por ganar el Premio de Viaje de SoBLa 2026, financiado por Montana Molecular. Este premio financiará su viaje a la Reunión Anual de Biofísica 2026 en San Francisco.

Donation drive for a travel award!
Help us establish a yearly travel award for students who need funds to travel to conferences. We all know that traveling to conferences is necessary for any scientific career and we also know how expensive it is. Too many students don't get a chance to network and present their own work because they lack funds. Our goal is to collect enough donations to generate an endowment. We will invest all the donations to make the award sustainable from year to year.
What do you think? Invest in biophysicists of the future.

Ayúdanos a establecer un premio de viaje anual para estudiantes que necesitan fondos para asistir a congresos. Todos sabemos que viajando a congresos es necesario para cualquier carrera científica, y también sabemos lo costoso que es. Muchos estudiantes no tienen la oportunidad de establecer contactos y presentar su propio trabajo por falta de fondos. Nuestro objetivo es juntar suficientes donaciones para generar un fondo de donación. Invertiremos la totalidad de la donación para que el premio sea sostenible año tras año.
